Our Mission
Established in 1987, the Surfing Association of Nova Scotia is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to: building an inclusive, fun and respectful surf community; supporting recreational and competitive surfing; promoting coastal stewardship and access; while striving to achieve organizational effectiveness.
Our Role
The Surfing Association of Nova Scotia is the officially recognized Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) and Provincial Recreation Organization (PRO), and represents the community and sport of surfing to governing bodies: Sport Nova Scotia and Recreation Nova Scotia.

"As a freshly "winged" Air Force pilot in 1985, I chose Shearwater as my first flying posting. I wanted to surf at a place I'd heard of called Lawrencetown. I've managed to stay and surf ever since, and have been involved with SANS for many years. I'm passionate about the sport and dedicated to the work of preserving and enhancing our continued access to it."
